Any chance of any of the senior league teams going up the the DPL i.e Cranborne Allendale. I know in Allendales case their unlikely to meet the criteria but what about Cranborne?

We certainly hope to be in a position to enter the DPL next season, assuming our results continue to go the way they have been. Our only problem is that we have approached Geoff Theobald of the DPL on a few ocassions now to seek clarification on what the entry requirements actually are. To date we have received no feed back. That makes the preparation for entry to the DPL a bit difficult. Also with all the rumours about Wessex League 2 and teams leaving the DPL, we desperatley need something in black and white from the DPL to allow us to prepare. Certainly from a playing perspective, teams like ourselves, Allendale and Chickerell would all do well in the DPL. I think Allendale have an issue with placement of a barrier around the perimeter of the pitch. That should not present a problem at Cranborne.

Yes Im aware of Allendales inability to erect barriers round the pitch. But also I think as of next season it will be mandatory to have a form of covered standing area at each ground. It was supposed to be for this season but as many clubs voiced their concern it has been delayed a season. It seems somewhat 'scary' that at this stage of the season teams in your division are not sure if even the league winners will get promoted. I think it may have something to do with the Wessex 2 and clubs from the DPL applying for it. If Im not mistaken the Wessex 2 has had 14 applicants but needs 2 more for it to go ahead. So it looks like the DPL are being rather cunning and waiting to see if the parachute is fixed properly before they jump. It wouldnt be a suprise to see their ground criteria abolished all together because they could find themselves quite a few clubs short come next season.

Yes I heard about the covered standing area, but again we want to know more about dimensions etc. before doing anything. Hence you get the situation Cobham Sports are in , where they have built the covered area too close to the perimeter of the pitch. I was unaware that Wessex 2 had had 14 applicants and required 2 more. I'm a bit surprised that Salisbury City Reserves were turned down for it then. I think you could well be right about the DPL and their 'parachute'! If these clubs do jump ship and the DPL stick to their ground criteria they could have a very small league next season. If the ground criteria does get abolished then why even have the DPL? Teams may as well stay in the Senior Division. Wasn't there also a story about Elite Teamwear possibly not sponsoring the DPL next season? If Alex Pike takes Hamworthy Utd off to Wessex 2 that could really be on the cards with his connections at Elite Teamwear. It is about time the DPL spoke up about the situation and also at least acknowledge communications from clubs like ourselves when we try to find out what we need to play DPL football next season. It's no good waiting until June to let people know what is needed for the start of the season - two months later. Last night I emailed 5 DPL reps requesting the information on ground criteria, hopefully some feed back will be had this time.

I have read comments concerning the possible withdrawal of sponsorship from the DPL due to the fact Hamworthy Utd may take promotion next season May I point out Elite Teamwear agreed a three year term with the DPL and have every intention of honouring that commitment Any sponsorsip my company affords is unconditional with an aim to invest in grass roots football As a company we are very happy with the DPL coverage and the business relationship we have forged with the managament committee

Thanks for clearing up on where Elite Teamwear stand regarding their sponsorship of the DPL. That should put paid to the stories circulating and will be a comfort to all the clubs in the DPL. Regarding next season though, we (Cranborne) have still received absolutely no feedback from the DPL regarding entry requirements for next season. It is a frustration as we, or any other club looking for promotion, need as much time as possible to ensure funds etc are available to make any necessary changes. An acknowledgement from the DPL of our communications sent would at least be a start, even if things are still a bit up in the air regarding next season. You obviously have connections there, so a gentle nudge to Geoff Theobald or whoever to strike up a dialogue with our secretary would be appreciated. Good luck to you for the remainder of the season.

For the record, we received information on entry criteria from the DPL today! It currently looks within Cranborne's ability to meet the requirments off the pitch. We just need to keep winning on it!

Sorry it has taken me a while to reply but I have been in South Africa on business. Hamworthys committee is ambitious and wish the club to be viewed as progressive, the club has applied for the new Wessex 2 and if our league position allows,we hope to take promotion to Wessex 1.So it would appear whatever the outcome Hamworthy Utd will be departing the DPL at the end of the current season.

Thanks for commenting. Your clubs loss will be a blow to the DPL. But as you said you have to progress and theres no reason with your fan base that you shouldnt be up their on the same level as say Dorchester Town.
PS I heard on good authority that yourself and Irv had a good time over there!

I said at the time when we won at Swanage back in September that the Swans would be the team to watch. It surprised me when they struggled earlier on in the season. I would be happy to see them in the DPL, as long as Cranborne are too of course!

we struggled at the start of the season because we had a lot of new players, we were unkucky to lose at home to allendale and chickerell but were well beaten by cranborne. these fixtures came to early for us. but i think its proved how far we have progressed by beaten cranborne 5-1 allendale 3-2 and drew with the chickens 3-3. ;D

What excuses has the Swans Boss for the mid week defeat by Hamworthy Res incidently I have been informed you would only agree to the mid week fixture providing Hamworthy`s first team had a game the same night Egg on the face springs to mind
