I just heard that Stur have pulled out if the Dpl. After all there club impressive league finishes in the last 3 seasons it's come to this. I had heard during the season that with the combination of committe members week after week slating the performances and manager along with a few inside doing there own player transfers without any managers knowledge. And the fact that they can't afford to run a team in the Dpl. It is obviously for the best that the manager left when he did.

Sturminster were left with no option but to withdraw the first team from the dpl after Matt and Abbo decided to leave for the job at Ham United. This in itself not a problem as a new management team was available. It was the FACT that they tapped 9 of the first team squad up to go and join them with the promise of potential Wessex League football. In short not enough quality players exist. No committee member has ever made transfers and money was not the issue. Players did not even pay to play.

I think you will find they have. Kev did the transfer of a player without telling Matt. Also youth team managers and chairman at stur slagged matt off behind his back but the fact they can not attract a new manager or players shows how well Matt and Abo did. They brought in about 7 players so it is natural that these players will follow them to Ham Utd. Only person I feel sorry for is Dave Miller as he is MR Stur and would do anything he could to help the manager.

Really, you think your very well informed,Managers applied for the vacancy and were interviewed/offered the job.Tell us all the seven players that Matt and Abbo brought to the club and that have followed to Ham Utd,the fact is that these people have decimated a club, all players that the old management brought in generally left so the nucleus was existing stur players for the 3 year rein and now taken to Ham Utd as per Correct Info post, This has rightly upset Dave and all concerned. It's true that some youth team managers/supporters did have an opinion on the continual signing's that came and went, but at NO stage did that have any interference on the management, how could it being two different football clubs ?
That is twice that the chairman has had slander put to his name which is strange as he has 100% supported Matt and Abbo. The truth will come out some time in the future and i am sure that SMFC and it's committee/supporters will not be at fault.

Mike glav, wayne smith, Dave Mountford, Mark Reynolds, jo turner, doug sheer plus players brought back to club Tim littler, lee thomas. Chairman was never around or spoke to Matt. As said before Kev signed a transfer without Matt knowing.

I was offered all of the above by Morris but am not daft enough to believe it. He first approached me in Feb so why didn't Stur sack the idiot? As for his sidekick scarface, what a brown nose.

Ok so lets get it right. The players that have left that you call established players are Matt J,Steve J and a reserve player Logan. Have you thought that these players actually asked to follow the management? The others are yes players that Matt bought in and not village players. The club had so many meetings regarding money and how they couldn't afford to be in the Dpl and wanted the players to fund it sums up the club. One lucky season? started bottom of league. 1st_- highest ever points total. 2nd 5th place. 3rd top half of league. The tracksuits were all paid for by Matt in advance himself to try and make the club feel as one and all the match balls too so only right he took them with him? In regards to failed business that is very personal and why are is someone that sad to raise those things on a FOOTBALL forum? In regards to the committee doing signings without Matt even knowing ... Yes this has happened! they signed Will Gash? I think his name is? The old left back with a face like a old paintball practice area? So how could anyone offer Wessex football? Its more the fact that They may one random day get called up by the Wessex team. Stur has got issues regarding there youth committee who don't want to part with there money and are probably glad thy haven't got the money burden from now on trying to play in the dpl. Finally reading this thread why dont one of you lot who post slating Matt apply for the managers job? you all seem to know what should be done or has gone wrong

I know Matt and he was gutted leaving Stur and told me that the players were actually asking him could they follow him. If he had tapped all these players up why hasn't he yet signed the players player and his player of the year? There you go he hasn't tapped no player up its more that they jumped a sinking ship

Whats wrong, another thing Fat Morris hasn't run past you as his trusted brown nose! Let's not forget you were touting yourself about Abbo when it wasn't clear what was going on and if my source is correct asked to play for Ham Rec ressies. What loyalty you boys show!

I see the same old bitter person on here getting all personal again. Funny how most comments are the same old fat morris jibe and always a connection in the posts between ham rec and Stur? Funny that it's probably a rubbish player that couldn't even get in a poor Stur side and hides there spotty face behind a computer screen all day.

I do not normally go as low as to read these forums but this particular thread has been brought to my attention and I can not sit and see the name of our club dragged through the s*** . Firstly if people wish to write then they should not hide behind and alias, so my name is Merrick Smith and i am chairman at Sturminster Marshall. Matt came to the club 3 seasons ago and at the time promised to commit to at least 3 seasons so he has fulfilled his obligation to the club. He took a struggling team to the top half of the league, a job well done. We heard rumours that he was leaving but this was not made official until before the last two games of the season and he asked us to keep it quite which we honoured until the season finished .Matts job is done and he is moving on to try and better himself. Who ever mentioned his business grow up work is work an football is pleasure. What ever the reasons the fact is that 9-10 players have left the club either asked by Matt , or have asked him, retirerd or moved away and we were left with no option to drop down a league. The new managers role was not a problem and was covered. As for transfers being made behind his back one player approached the committee and asked to move. I tried to talk him out of it but was told that his differences with Matt and abbo were unreaconcilable and he wished them not to be informed until it was done. Until the start of the 2012/13 season the men's and youth sections are totally seperate so there is no conflict about letting the men have money as it is nothing to do with them and infact the youth have paid for the men's training as a gesture of support. The meetings were about amalgamation of the two clubs and Matt was present at them both. The club are very disappointed about the situation especially Dave Miller and yes we do feel that Matt could of handled his departure a better and are very agreived at the departure of players it has ripped the heart out of the team. I am outraged at comments posted about myself and other committee members and to the culprits I just say grow up.We have allready began to rebuild and have new players coming to the club and old players returning who did not agree with the old management(if every one got on with everyone wouldn't it be good) so we look forward to next season.

Mr Chairman. You have yourself just spelt out that there was a lot of issues at your club. You admitted that even though you say a player approached you and you tried talking him out of this transfer isn't it the decent thing to do and actually talk the the manager or even at least tell him that a player is going?YES it is and you and your committee members never once told Matt about it so he only finds out a week after it was done! Regarding the differences between the manager and said player it is more like he thought he was better than he was but really got so frustrated that he was playing so rubbish.,So in turn blame the manager for playing out of position. Matt left the club trying to even help choose a new manager and have you ever thought that we left Stur for the reasons that we actually enjoyed playing for Matt and alot of the players spoke and decided to follow him and the fact that Stur always struggle for money and probably not even likely to last the whole season anyway. And old players that didn't agree with the old management who are returning are more than likely players that were dropped and were not good enough. And if the club does mean so much too you where were you on the presentation evening? Oh that's right you went out bowling with your mates!!! Your Stur throughout you are

To Stan yes sorry big fingers and an iPhone don't go well together. To Ex Stur player once again I say show yourself so I can make sure you never play for the club again. Once again you need to get your facts correct before coming on here. The presentation date was set to suit Matt and Abbo and the majority of the players, I was not available on that date as I infact had a skittles team final to play in which had taken a season to qualify for. I could not let my club or team mates down something you are perhaps well used to. Will told me about his transfer after the paper work was done and i tries to get him to receed it ,and on the same day I spoke to Matt and Abbo so once again wrong info on your part. If you would like to carry this on pick up the phone and give me a call not hide behind a keyboard .

Well Mr chairman. If the dates suited Matt and Abbi you still didn't try that hard so try and get it changed do you could go bowling did you? Really the club isn't that important to you as much as you like to think. As for the player that was transferred behind Matts back this is a real low way of helping out your manager and no wonder you lost players if that's the way you run the club. As for calling Matt and telling him I spoke to Matt on this towards the end of the season and he never got a call off you or anyone else on the committee to say that you transferred a player without him knowing did you? No! And he couldn't actually recall that you ever phoned him Ever about anything so again stop thinking that your a great ambassador for Stur because your far from it. And forums work in a funny way that you actually do sit behind a keyboard just as you are replying to these posts.
