JULY 2010 - OFFICIAL CLUB STATEMENT
Last night at the AGM of Swanage Town & Herston Football Club Jason Phillips first team manager at ST&H FC along with his assistants Henry Simpson and Jamie Holland all resigned from their positions at the club. Jason gave this statement to swanagefc.co.uk:
"I have loved every minute of my time at the club and have made some great friends along the way. We lost nine players from our Cup winning side from last year and replacing them is a hard task. Due to my ever increasing work schedule and the fact I do have a family I just can't devote the time needed to build a new squad of players. By not being 100% comitted to the job I am not being fair on myself or anybody associated with the club. I have been managing for ten years now and just need a break. I would like to thank everybody connected with the club for the help they have given me. Henry indicated a desire to step down last week and Jamie will find a club a bit closer to home"
The club are saddend by these departures but would like to thank Jason and his backroom staff for their hard work over two seasons which culminated in bringing silverware back to Day's Park for the first time in over twenty years. The loss of key players over the summer (Aaron Corby, Mike White Liam Currell to Hamworthy United, Jacob Harrop to Poole Town, Keith Middleton to Poole Borough and Steven Legg & Steve Russell retired) has meant the first team would have to be rebuilt a task that Jason feels is just to much given his work schedule and family life. This is a decsion that the committee fully understands.
It is hoped that a succesor can be appointed in the not to distant future. Although not ideal with less than a week until the start of the season the committee will not be rushed into making any decsion as the new manager must be the right man to take the club forward.
Any persons interested in the first team managers post who feel they have the right credentials and experience must contact the Club Chairman Adrian Bishop.
