Witchampton are looking for new players for this season. Due to player retirements and other commitments we are looking to recruit immediately. We play in the Dorset Senior League and are historically a top half of the table side. If you are looking for a new challenge or even the possibility of more regular football in a decent league then manager Stewart Hibberd would love to hear from you asap. We have a great pitch and lovely welcoming clubhouse and are now looking to preserve the clubs future. Please contact Stew on 07859 069732 or email at stewhibb4@yahoo.co.uk Thankyou

Such a shame seeing teams struggle so much these days to get commitment from players, what has happened at witchampton to go from 2 teams down to needing players for one. Admittedly your boys in the first team were getting older, still solid players and certainly up to the standard, but you had a reserve side last year. You have a great pitch, clubhouse and well run club, you need to get someone in with some contacts with the surrounding areas.

Echo sentiments with post above, sad to see good clubs going by the way side. The commitment just isn't there anymore from some people and as it looks to have done here, once a few people leave they all leave. Hope you guys find some players soon, and as "whats happened" mentions, maybe someone with a few contacts who can help. Always loved playing at Witchampton, a lovely setting.

I also find this an unfortunate situation for the club to be in. Having played there myself many times on a lovely pitch and surroundings it appears to be an awkward situation from the rumours going around. Long serving players all retiring at the same time was bound to happen and any decent players left have given up and being 'approached' to play else where. Loyalty is a past thing and being stuck miles from a catchment area the club was always going to find this happen with its ageing club members from committee to players. A massive rebuild is required throughout the club for its long term success and survival.
Good luck.

What are the so called rumours going on then? I wouldn't agree that the club is miles away from a catchment area...Looking at a map, Its a couple of miles to Holt for instance, approx 5 miles to Wimborne, Cranborne, Verwood, and a little further to Blandford so we aren't talking extortionate travelling here and all areas with teams playing higher Standards currently The club may well need to rebuild by all accounts and hopefully people, and more importantly, players with some commitment and desire who aren't getting games at DPL clubs or fancy playing a standard higher than they currently are, are also reading this post as well. Is it not feasible for one or a couple of the retiring players to step forward and keep some continuity going and hopefully get some of the younger players to step up and become the senior players? This is how clubs usually evolve. Sad to hear all of this, I came to watch a couple of games towards the end of last season and really enjoyed the hospitable reception myself and my friends were greeted with and hopefully will see by way of results in the upcoming weeks how things are progressing. All the best.

This is a Big Big problem all over Dorset,no fewer that 7 clubs have pulled team's from the Dorset league since the start of the season,Hope that Witchampton are ok for the long term,i'm sure as in every club people behind the scene are doing their upmost to keep things going. Not sure its all the player commitment thing for clubs for me there are just not as many players? I bet that DPL clubs have not got full squads this season and are oversigning to cover players when working etc.
