Sadly Doug you give the man too much credit. He previously stated that he came from 'Stirminster'.
I would ask if it was Marshall or Newton, but I don't want to confuse him.
;D ;D ;D

Yes the score indeed was Winchester 7- 0 Poole Borough Thanks for the smiley face on your reply "Fan" we were very happy too as it wasnt about scores, as are all pre season friendlies as far as alot of people are concerned but about LEARNING and pinpointing strengths and weaknesses prior to the start of the season. It was a great day and hopefully will be an annual event! FAUSTINO fancy you bothering to find out ! are you swaying toward supporting us SURELY NOT!!! COME ON OVER TO THE MOOR!

To get back to the subject, Poole Borough Reserves have arranged a friendly against Poole Town Reserves on Wednesday 21st July at Turlin Moor - KO 6:30pm.
Not sure that won't be Town Reserves's first game since they played in the Dorset Combination at Turlin Moor in 1996.
Sorry - I'm starting to sound like Motty!

Just to confirm we will be playing PBFC this coming Wed.
We will be playing 12 x 16 year olds and 2 x 18 year olds throughout the game. It will be a good learning curve for my youngsters.
I hope everybody enjoys the match in the way it is meant to be.

Let hope we can get the "Ken Yeoman" memorial trophy off the ground too! as he would of appreciated the game as he was one of the Poole Town "Social" supporters as i was and we had great times on away trips

What rumours?

Post by Lee Atkins on Jul 22, 2004 15:23:59 GMT
Rumours that both teams were gonna play their 1st teams.
Well on Boro`s part it was untrue but Town?
Well i think the 1st half was played with about 60% of their 1st team and the second half was reserves plus an extra man they had on the pitch..........the Referee who is Poole Town through and through and guess what, it showed. I am dissapointed that Town did not stay tru to their word on only playing 2 1st teamers but thats them for ya.

Faustino do you actually play the game? I have seen you on more than one of these forums and you just keep on you are 'endless'. I notice you stopped the Greenridge banter as you were being cained about being that sad lonely person ready to knock everyones footy starting to agree...
sorry to lower the tone this guy is doin my head in

I couldn't make the game, so can only go by the report on our clubcall line.
According to that we had 3 players in the first half that we would regard as first-team squad players - Paul Manning, Lee Manning and Garry Morris.
My understanding is that they came off for the second half, and that the youngsters played some pretty good football.
It might be worth noting that the score was only 1-0 at halftime?

I'll think you find we were all just having a laugh on the greenridge board.
I do play footie actually so your statement is incorrect.
As for me always having a go?
Why dont you look at Atkins always going on one about Boro. I was making a comment which I thought his message deserved. As I knew all along that PTFC played nothing like their first team at any point of the game.
Unless your another Boro supporter who cant be gracious in defeat i suggest you observe in future before criticising

Well considering that we agreed that only 2 potential 1st team players were going to play its not that bad then is it?
Yes i think that your reserve side (or should i say the second half side) did play some brilliant football and they should do very well this season but like i said, we agreed only 2 1st team players but in the end you played 3.
Never mind though, your lads won the game fair and square and I personally wish you all the very best for the season and what would be even better for you is if Mr Ayley could ref all of your games, 12th man on the pitch ?

Lee
Re the first teamers, the only defense I can muster at a distance is that Garry Morris didn't play for us last season, so might not have been considered as a first-teamer. I'll concede this as a bit weak, however, as I think he was playing DPL football, so could reasonably be regarded as first-team standard. Not quite the 60% you mentioned, but if the expectation was 1 or 2, I can understand your frustration.
As far as Paul Ayley's concerned, I'll remind him at our next game how upset he gets with what he perceives to be be biased/incompetent referees! Sadly I don't think we'll be able to persuade thw Wessex League to add him to their list. (Seriously, however, I know I wouldn't want to referee a game involving Poole Town.)
Re-reading the start of this thread, I hope the performance and result offers a little reassurance to those who were sceptical about the ability of our reserves to compete in the DSL. Early days, but it looks like we've done well at Poole Town to get Kevin Jackson on board.
Anyway, Lee, thanks for your best wishes. It's been clear from afar for several years that you've been committed to the Poole Borough cause, and I hope you similarly have a successful and enjoyable season.

just read on the poole web site that Melksham Town who play in the Screwfix Premier league are about to approach Kevin Jackson the Poole reserve manager and ask him to return to his home town club as there manager.
Poole res lost 5-3, he played about eight 16 year olds against the premier league side.
