I have just heard the news that Poole Town Reserves had been accepted straight into the SENIOR league.
Can anyone tell me how this is justified.
It is a smack in the face for all those clubs who have started at a reasonable level and worked their way up!
I just hope for their sakes they have not "bitten off more than they can chew" cos if they get heavy defeats they could have a mass exodus on their hands. Feelings from the other clubs in the divison will certainly run high and who can blame them.
I am aware that another club entered Dorset Division 1 and they were able to cope with it. BUT it could well have been a different story.
How many reserve sides have gone straight into the top division in the past?

Wimborne Town's Reserves went straight in last season. I'm sure it will upset a number of clubs. It doesn't really same fair does it, but whoever said football was fair?

I thought you didn't want too many Reserve teams in the DPL?! I'm sure it will upset a few people though, as it will no doubt please many too.

Well I was convinced otherwise. I open minded about the situation. The most important thing is the standard and the facilities

I agree with Asprilla. If your going to throw them the DSL why not go the whole hog and put them in the DPL. As Its short anyway. If the DCFA didnt want any more teams leaving why didnt PTFC go straight to the DPL board. Never the less interesting times for PTFC .
PS isnt it the same principle for Corfe Mullens Promotion. For the second year running they've finished outside a promotion place but still gone up.

If the DCFA are just gonna let anyone in, why not let Hamworthy United Reserves into the DPL? After all, Hamworthy United are now the leading club in Poole, not Poole Town! The only reason Poole Town have even decided to start up a reserve team is because they had good numbers at training! Is that really a good foundation/basis for a team? I think not! They don't even know if they can produce a team of quality standard yet, and whether these surplus individuals can play together!!!

To be fair HUFC Reserves arent exactly good.
And Poole Town have long been planning a reserve team. Im sure with Killick as manager they'll have a influx of good players to the club which will strengthen the reserves

You say that Hammers reserves aren't good, but firstly, with the first team now in Wessex 1 surely they also will attract good players, and secondly, Hammers reserves in their last 16 games won 13 drew 2 and lost 1 (not bad form!) this included defeat for Swanage, also during the season taking points of all the top 5. Their poor start was down to a combination of new management and first team taking players to make up numbers (holidays etc) until their side was established.

Good point but despite their respected league postions Its pretty obvious that PTFC are by far the biggest club in Poole.
This is why if any reserves should be In the DPL it should be PTFC not HUFC

Hang on
Why wasnt Poole Borough put straight into the DPL and their RESERVES in the Dorset Senior league then, as tell me if i am wrong wasnt the league Poole Town were in last year the equivalant of the DPL? so how does that make them the biggest Club in Poole, you also have Hamworthy United, Hamworthy Rec, they also come under the town of POOLE.
They used to be the biggest club in Poole in the 80s and 90s and at one time they would have been extinct if the directors had had their way and merged with BOURNEMOUTH Poppies !!!! and they wouldnt have played in POOLE either!

I dont think the dorset county had much choice with the DPL taking Swanage and Cranborne the Senior league needed the draw of Poole Town Res only time will tell if their standards off the pitch match their playing ability I dont think you can compare Poole Boro with Wimborne Res and now Poole Town what facilities could they offer when they wished to join the league

Exactly correct.
I wondered how long it would be before we got a Boro supporter with a chip on their shoulder. Boro where allowed straight into the DSL with facilities much worse than PTFC or WTFC so I dont really know what the heck your complaining about. The current climate is now different anyway. The DPL is short of one club and will be short by even more come this stage next season. It was simply put that instead of have a league which has an odd amount of teams which in itself is a joke why not go the whole hog a let PTFC reserves in the DPL. There is no other really viable alternative regarding other clubs to promote. And would prove a point to some clubs unwilling to pull their finger out. Stranger things have happened. Every one complains about the DPL commitee anyway teams are leaving left right and center it cant make things any worse

Hey, Faustino, does this mean that you have been converted to the fact that the DPL will have to let 3 or 4 reserve teams into the league to keep the standard high??? I'm proud of you!!! ;D

Well, all i can say is good luck to Poole Town Reserves.
We know why we at Poole Borough started off life in the now DSL, so the same must go for PTRes. Good luck hope you do well.
N E Way, next season if you do not go up into the DPL, you may well be playing our reserve side, now wouldnt that be interesting.
Faustino, i do not know why you have it in for POOLE BOROUGH FC but please stop slagging us off all the time. At the end of the day what we all want to see is a pro football team with the name Poole on it.
UP THE BORO`

Dont lie all you want is a Pro team in Poole with the name BOROUGH attached to it. And you and your cronies in charge of it. All of you in charge of boro are all in it for your own glory. I wish you would stop pretending you cared about Poole Town or football in Poole, your just interested in your own poxy club and your own glory.
