I think Ackers down at Hamworthy will have a good season, rapidly becoming a quality keeper and has worked really hard on the technical side of his game through pre-season. Plus he kicks the ball a mile, consistently to which is hard to find in a goalkeeper

i believe that daniel blackburn at wimborne will be one to watch, good technically minded, only 16, playing with good players in the reserves, will only get better.

There were some very good young players in the league last year. Poole Town and Sturminster Marshall in particluar impressed me.
I don't know their names, but Sturminster Marshall had three who really stood out last year - a tall slim lad at centre half, a stocky and very quick left back and a very good left midfield player.

i agree, most of the younsters at poole are of a good quality, dont no about the lads at stur, mind havent seen then enough. but if they were that good, they wouldnt be playin for stur? ? also wimborne posses good youngsters and danny blackburn is a good player, i believe he has been involved with the 1st team durin pre-season, good player.

Stur took 6 points off Wimborne last season. We wiped the floor with them at our place. The eldest player we had that day was 22 and the team included 6 teenagers. We also took 4 points off Poole Town, and finished above both Poole and Wimborne, so who would you say had the best young players?
No disrespect meant to either Poole or Wimborne, I have no doubt we will have tough games against each other this season, but Stur Marshall are a smashing little club with hard working and dedicated back room staff and comments like "if they were any good they wouldn't be playing for Stur" wind me up.

i never meant to disrespect stur. however stur is a first team and they have the same basis of a team week in week out. whereas if u look at the two reserve sides, they have to bring in other players to cover for important players lost to the first team. i never meant to disregard the stur youngsters but in my opinion if they were as good as everyone mentions , then why are they not playing at a club with better facilities, and with better prospects. ypu cannot say that it is to play with their m8s as they could not turn down the possibility of playing at poole or wimborne?? answer me that

What about Steve Blyth at Stourpaine? Looks like a good signing for the Steamers.

Stur Marshall beat wimborne 5 -2 last season with a wimborne side that included 4 1st team regulars! Whilst they are a not a big club they have more chance of going up than either poole or wimborne as unless one of the three reserve teams in the DPL gets relegated they wont allow any more reserve teams in. Anyway having watched our 1st team struggle to beat chickerall the other weak there is only one place the title is going!

i dont belive that is correct as the reserves that playted were the reserves, i do not think there were 4 first team regulars, only scott arnold and warren doyle.

can i just comment on the talk of stur, no doubt stur r a gd team, bt we all no tat stur are nt going anyway, nt because they are nt a gd team, bt due to the pitch. teh youngsters are gd, yes, dan haysom good player, sam mason gd, bt they are the only 2 so called youngsters, anyone over the age of 21, in the dsl is seem as reasonable experiemced. i i raise the question of whould wimborne and pool take haysom, nd mason? ? i belive that they are good enough, so y hasnt wimborne cum in 4 them??

well i think that is rubbish, i know a certain young player that had a good offer froma club alot higher, but decided to stay with their mates at stourpaine. at the end of the day a player will play where they feel the most comfortable, some people play football because they love the game not because they thikn they can beat the world.
both stur youngsters mentioned are very good players with bags of potential, if they wana stay where they are then that is their decision nobody else. so lets get off their backs hey??. and see how they do this year!

at the end of the day alot of these youngsters will go of to universtity next summer and apart from a few none of them will be playing next season. The rumor in the DSL is that Easton Utd are the one's to watch out for. I think you will find if you talk to players at stur marshall as i have done and not the people who come on here and clam to play for them, then you will know that they are a group of lads who enjoy playing together, and dont expect to repeat there postion of last year not when all the big clubs have been able to strengthen. And the end of the day it is a hobby!

With 6 local teams all playing together it is going to be tough - but watch out for Corfe Mullen. they may well surprise a few as they have signed on some new faces all with at least DPL quality if not higher !!
Should be a fun season and close !!

Why are these Corfe players playing DSL if they are good enough to play DPL or higher?

A bit like Stur really - a good bunch of mates but with Corfe there is a bit more experience !. I think a few clubs may well be surprised when they play them. But who knows heh !! - roll on the 3rd September v Poole Town at home, not a bad first tester !!

saw corfe tonight. looked a decent bet for top six senior finish. kieron campell, steve newman and paul stannard all looked decent signings with some decent youngsters to boot. don't think they will be pulling up trees though.

'in the know' every team has to make do without players in every game. if you had five or six more their last night you would have had a twenty two man squad!! don't bring out your sour grapes cos you couldn't turn over an alleged inferior side. you won't see a better goal out at your div three pitch either this year!!
