was just wondering if anyone on here knew if it is possible for a team to be promoted more than the usual one league in a season?? i only ask because i have heard on the grape-vine that a couple of teams have applied to be promoted from dorset divvy 4 to dorset divvy 2 at the end of this season. (us being one of those teams)
does anyone know the chances of this being allowed by dorset fa? if you look at our league i think its only fair that we get promoted to at least dorset 2.

history dictates....no you will not be allowed. division three is exceptionally poor, full of teams who cant go up and cant go down but you will have to win it to make div two i am afraid.

yes... im afraid that you are correct a1. i know that my team (kingston lacy) have applied to go upto divvy 2, as i hear so have harbour view and a few other teams in our league.
surely tho dorset fa would consider it as we have scored 111 goals in 17 games, and havnt lost once yet, won every game except a 0-0 draw and only conceded 2! we are also in the final of dorset minor cup, all this in our first season!!
having played in dorset 3, dorset prem for a couple of yrs at witchampton, it does seem slightely pharcical that we would have to waste another season..?!

been in the same boat myself, won dorset 4 dorset 3 dorset 2 and then team folded when team got into senior. we asked to be put straight into div one at the outset but they would not listen, problem is players drop off over seasons (past prime, bored, families etc) and the team were not as strong as they could have been this season and last. i am afraid you will be another stat in the dcfa history and they wont give a toss about it.
ps i thought kingston lacy had been around years?

technically the club has been around for a while a1. however, as far as i know the old team folded around 2000/2001 season. this season we have formed the team again, but there is not one player, coach, manager, etc from the old lot, who quite frankly were a bunch of t*ssers. luckily for us, our average age of the squad is 21 to 22, so dont think families, boredom or gettin past it will have any effect for a fair few years yet!! we shall see what dorset fa decide, altho havin won the dorset minor cup last night agenst harbour view, surely that shud stand us in some sort of good stead??

After speaking to the FA, and I know that a few teams have dropped out, all you can do is apply for promotion and see what the FA decide.

quite frankly a1, they are a bunch of pr*cks. the way they played agenst us was jst so try and kick the sh*t out of us the entire 90 minutes! ok, so u got to expect that in the lowest division in dorset sumtimes, but it wil be interesting to see if they have the same tactics without the 30 chavs they had on the sideline down in weymouth!! plus the fact that they cancelled a game agenst us earlier in the season because they "couldnt get a squad together", altho last time i checked they have around 22 signed on and cudnt get SEVEN players agenst us??!

I have heard that there may onoly be 3 Dorset leagues next year.. As the DPL want to increase to 20 teams. Meaning Senior teams with the proper facilities will possibly go up...

With the DPL struggling to complete a fixture list of 16 clubs this season, I can't see how they could consider going to 20 teams. However who do you think from the Dorset League will be ready to fill any of these vacancies?

ringo: who did you hear that from???
DPL Fan: I agree with you, there is no way that the DPL would increase the amount of teams by 4. Who do you play for? I have no idea who they would choose to promote to DPL if they were to increase the amount of teams, surely there would not be enough time in the season to complete all fixtures?

I think you'll find increasing the amount of teams is underconsideration. The biggest reason being the extra income it will generate. As for extra games it will only mean 6 more than was going to happen this year anyway. Which can easily happen should the league finish at a normal time like second week of may instead of april. Also remember nearly 6 weeks of constant rain which messed up the fixtures. Plus think about all the teams that have had one week even 2 off cos of the teams that dropped out. I think you'll find should 4 clubs with the finance, squad and facilities be found it will happen!

dont you think tho that with 20 teams in the league, then obviously there at 38 games to play, that with games cancelled due to rain, lack of players, blah blah blah, tha

agreed. however the dcfa work in mysterious ways, it wouldnt make sense to increase the dpl to 20 teams therefore they will probably do it. bunch of muppets who have barely kicked a ball between them.

The DCFA do not run the DPL and have no say whatsoever in any decision taken by the DPL committee. They can, however, refuse to allow more than one team to be promoted, so if the DPL do decide they want to up the numbers they could not do so without the co-operation of the DCFA - unless of course they take in teams who will be dropping out of the Wessex League.

'ark at 'er!!!
you been swallowing books dpl or what?
the point being you told us all teams who meet criteria in senior will be promoted ....................(however if dcfa dont want them to join it then they won't) ...............so yes the dcfa do have a say in it.
any other contradictions you would like to share with us your highness?
