would you go and believe it. there seems to be a mistake with the fixtures this weekend in the dsl as all 12 teams are playing!!! must be a first this season! looking at the weather tho there may be a few called off but heres hoping...wey spartans have got the short straw with the long trip to wincanton. got a feelin it may be in vain too. we got a tough awat day at wareham and witchampton have a tasty game vs chickerill. im gonna put my neck on the line and predict the matches...okeford to beat easton away, tintin to beat moreton, wey sports to win, winky to win and witchampton to beat chickerill. as for us, if we play like we did vs sherborne in the cup we will win. if we play like we did last week we will lose. so in effect, i aint predicting that one, but a win will do!!

You should get used to it. You're a Somerset team. You should not be surprised that players who are not getting paid can't be bothered to make the trek on a Saturday afternoon.
Just because DCFA green coats have let you in the league does not mean all the players are happy about it. It's not the green coats who have to do the travelling is it. You lot obviously don't mind as you entered the league, but those who were there before you are maybe not so keen, and who can blame them?

so u obviously have the same trouble playing tintinhull then! we r about 3 miles from gillingham(in dorset) who play in the dpl. poor excuse for not travelling. maybe u should join a local league cuz thats wat standard your at anyway looking at your results and speaking to a few tintinhull players u would struggle in a local league let alone a county league. weve had no complaints from the teams who have travelled to us. and our facillities are one of the best, if not the best in the league. surely the league should dish out point deduction(not that it would make any difference to u) and hefty fines to teams who alledgedly cant get a team. dont waste other teams time who look forward to playing on a sat afternoon.

ha ha,
You're having a laugh. What team is you seem to think I play for. I don't play in the Dorset Senior, but if I wanted to join a Mickey Mouse county league, then the Dorset Senior would be a very good starting point. Lets face it, the standard of the Senior is shocking, the DPLs bad but the senior is terrible. Don't tell me my standard is poor when you don't know what my standard is, and when you yourself play in a pub league.
If I played in the Senior for no money I wouldn't like travelling huge distances every Saturday afternoon. As you point out, it would be bad enough making the long trips to teams in Dorset, all I'd want is to have even worse trips to teams outside of Dorset. Your getting annoyed that teams are cancelling, get used to it, you're a Somerset team, why should Dorset sides make the trip? Put up, shut up, or join your own county league.

think the game might have been called off cos Kieron has left the club. i hear he has left cos the players arent committed enough. dont know what the future holds? shame cos they were beginning to shape into a good side, don't blame him for walkin though.

winc, BRILLIANT! I like your logic. Why am I in the Dorset County League forum when I don't play in the Dorset county league? Why are you in a Dorset county league if you are not in Dorset? I'm here because I live in Dorset and I play football in one of the Leagues that this site has a forum for. I think thats a good enough reason for me being on this site. I posted in this *forum* because I noticed your posts suggesting teams are scared to play you. You need to consider a much more obvious reason why teams may not turn up...When you sign up to play in a Dorest league, you don't expect to have to travel to Somerset. Sometimes it may be the odd player that doesn't turn up so you'll still get a team turn up. Sometimes too many players wont fancy making the trip, and you won't get a team turn up. Sometimes the mangement will think b*llocks to traveling out there to play top of the league, lets say we are short of players and cancel the game, and you wont get a team turn up. You've got to realise that just because your team is prepared to travel long distances, not everyone is if they aren't getting paid. You can come on here, whine and moan and call people knob ends all you like....it wont make teams turn up if they don't want to though .

shlong head lets get real if a team has no ambitions to progress any further ie not full fill a fixture then surely this dose not make dorset leagues any stronger. if u do not want to play senior football then Bleep off back in the mickey mouse league u came from u p***k.

Ha ha, Senior football, don't make me laugh. Just because it was renamed the 'Senior League' lets not get carried away, its still the same old poor Dorset divvy 1. You Somerset boys obviously think you've entered some top notch high standard of football league, you haven't. Teams or players may or may not turn up. That's life. The Dorset county leagues are as bad as it gets here in Dorset, there is nothing below.
Funny someone suggests going back and playing Sunday league football if you have no ambition. I know a few lads who play for Sunday teams, and they don't have many players who are playing as low as the DSL on Saturdays.

From my understanding Wincanton have joined the DSL as a stepping stone to the DPL and for them a number of 'local' fixtures against clubs such as Gillingham and Westlands.
Good luck to them! With the loss of Stourpaine and Dorchester United to the DPL, Wincanton would enhance the league and are not exactly miles from the border. We should take it as a compliment that they want to ply their trade in the Dorset Leagues.
I also saw their Reserves visit another club in the south east of the county and despite a long trip home they stopped for a drink in the bar before leaving. I am very impressed with the club and hope they don't take this small minded sh1t to heart.
